Kushner Releases Statement Ahead Of Russia Testimony

Top White House adviser and President Trump's son-in-law says he had no further contacts with Russian officials or their intermediaries beyond what's already been made public.  Jared Kushner is set to testify behind closed doors on Capitol Hill today as part of the ongoing investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

In a statement released this morning, Kushner said he had four meetings with Russians during the campaign and transition into the White House.  They include two meetings with the Russian ambassador, the head of a Russian bank and a meeting with a Russian lawyer set up by Donald Trump Jr.  Kushner insists he didn't discuss anything improper, has always tried to be transparent and says he hopes the matter can be put "to rest."

Before anything is put to rest, however, he faces a second day in the hot seat as he's scheduled to appear before the House Intelligence Committee tomorrow.  That committee's ranking member, Democrat Adam Schiff of California told CBS' "Face The Nation," he definitely has some questions about Kushner's meeting last year with Donald Trump Jr. and the Russian lawyer.  It's been reported that the lawyer they sat down with in Trump Tower in Manhattan once represented Russia's spy agency.
