Every year, it seems that the Kardashian-Jenner clan gets bigger, and the creative names they choose for their offspring are always interesting, but why did they pick them?
It turns out they aren't just randomly grabbing words from dictionaries! Here are some of the meanings behind the unique monikers.
Like her parents, Kim and Kanye's first-born loves fashion and has a love-hate relationship with the paparazzi, and while her first name is a direction like her last name, that's not exactly why she's called North.
Kim told GQ that while she and Kanye were having lunch one time, some famous friends approached them after hearing rumors that they were considering naming their child North. Kimye weren't really considering the name but Pharrell Williams stopped by to say that North "is the best name." Then, Vogue editor Anna Wintour came around and said "North is a genius name." From that point on, Kim said the name stuck.
Any fan of Keeping Up With The Kardashians knows that Kim's second pregnancy was difficult. While she and Kanye haven't explained how they came up with Saint's name, many feel that Kimye called him Saint because his birth was a blessing.
Anyone who knows Kanye West knows that he was raised in Chicago and loves his hometown. He's mentioned the Windy City in his music and now, he's named his third child with Kim after it.
Stormi's mom is of course Kylie Jenner and her dad is rapper Travis Scott, whose real name is Jacques Webster. While neither mom nor dad have revealed how they thought of Stormi's name, the most popular fan theory behind it centers on Travis's obsession with the butterflies and the butterfly effect.
The butterfly effect, which Travis even named a song after, says that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wings can create a huge storm halfway across the world. Travis and Kylie have matching butterfly tattoos so maybe their newborn girl is the storm to their butterfly effect.
Mason Dash Disick
When Kourtney Kardashian was looking for a name for her first-born, the only one she saw that she liked was Mason. She told her aunt about it and her aunt explained that Mason means in English what Kardashian means in Armenian - stone worker.
Meanwhile, another relative revealed that Kourtney's great uncle used the name Mason when making dinner reservations because Kardashian was too long. With that, she knew the name was meant to be.
As for Mason's middle name, Dash is short for Kardashian and was Kourtney's dad's nickname. Kourtney and her sisters also named their clothing boutique after it.
Penelope Scotland Disick
While once again, Kourtney and then boyfriend Scott Disick picked the name Penelope because they liked it, their daughter's middle name came from Kourtney's mom, Kris Jenner. Jenner suggested it to the couple and Scott undoubtedly was a fan of it because of how close it was to his own name.
Reign Aston Disick
Reign's dad Scott often refers to himself as Lord Disick, and lords love to reign, which might be why his second son has that first name. Another reason could be because it made the boy's initials RAD, which describes the rich and famous life of his parents.
Dream Renee Kardashian
Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna named their daughter Dream because she she was a "dream come true." Meanwhile, Dream got her middle name from her mother. Blac's given name is Angela Renee White, and now her daughter shares that middle name.
Khloe is latest Kardashian to give birth and the name she and basketball star Tristan Thompson chose for their little girl is True. Kris explained that it is actually a family name, writing on Twitter, "I'm so excited to welcome my precious little granddaughter True!!! FUN FACT… my Grandfather's name on my Dad's side was True Otis Houghton….my real Dad's name was Robert True Houghton…so i am so excited Khloe named her daughter True!!! #lovebug #familytradition #family."
There will always be more Kardashians coming and the world will wait excitedly to find out what those future family members will be called.
