Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested In Brooklyn, Charged With Assaulting A Cop

Page Six is reporting that Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested in Bed Stuy for driving without a driver's license on Sunday (May 20).

The news outlet claims that the artist parked his 2017 SUV in front of a fire hydrant. When police approached him and asked for his license, 6ix9ine said that he didn't have it on him. But, he did give authorities his government name, which is Daniel Hernandez. When cops looked up his real name, they realized that he'd been driving without a valid license and handcuffed him on the spot. But, that wasn't the end of the legal drama.

"Tekashi was charged Sunday with aggravated unlicensed operation, but additional raps were filed against him Monday — for assaulting a cop — after he allegedly grabbed an officer by the hand while his handcuffs were being taken off inside the 77th Precinct station house, police said," Page Six reports. Moreover, a spokesperson for the NYPD told the news outlet, “He squeezed the [cop’s] hand, causing pain and swelling.”

This isn't the first run in with the law that 6ix9ine's had. Earlier this month, an arrest warrant was issued for the rapper for allegedly choking a fan in The Galleria mall in Houston, Texas in January 2018. In 2015, he also pleaded guilty to three felony counts of the use of a child in a sexual performance in New York Supreme Court.
