The Obamas will forever hold a special place in their hearts for Biz Markie.

Michelle and Barack Obama penned a heartfelt letter to the late rapper's widow, Tara Hall, ahead of his Monday (August 2) memorial service, sharing their condolences.

"We wanted to extend our heartfelt condolences to you as you reflect on Biz Markie's life," the letter, which was made public by Tara, began. "We didn't know Biz Markie as long or as well as you and your loved ones did. But like others who admired him, he holds a special place in our hearts as one of rap's most innovative stylists and as a great man."

"Biz Markie brightened every room he was in, and we will always appreciate him for his early support in 2008, bringing people together to ‘Party with a Purpose’ and get out the vote," it continued, referring to Biz's support during Barack's 2008 presidential campaign. "His legacy in hip hop will span generations just as it has for nearly four decades."

The letter concluded, "We hope you take comfort in all the fond memories you have with him. Please know that we are holding you, Averi, and your entire family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Biz — known for his 1989 hit "Just a Friend" — passed away in a Baltimore hospital on July 16 after a "series of complications from diabetes that he's been fighting for more than a year."

The late legend's family held a celebration of life memorial service at the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts in Patchogue, New York on Monday. The Rev. Al Sharpton delivered the eulogy at the service and Biz's fellow hip-hop peers Fat Joe, Papoose, and LL Cool J were reportedly in attendance.
