MAGIC JOHNSON NOW IN CONTROL OF THE LA LAKERS

Damn. How about this. The storied Los Angeles Lakers, perennial winners of (17) NBA championships, but more recently, perennial losers, have decided it’s past time to make a change in the front office.

On Tuesday the Lakers announced that EarvinMagic “Johnson will now run the organization moving forward.

Here’s the deal: Johnson has officially been named president of basketball operations, GM Mitch Kupchak has been fired, and Jim Buss, son of the late former Lakers owner Jerry Buss and sibling of Lakers co-owner Jeanie Buss, will no longer be executive vice president of basketball operations.

Wow, talk about making a power move! Go ‘head Magic!!

Los Angeles Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss announced today that the team has named Earvin “Magic” Johnson as President of Basketball Operations. In addition, General Manager Mitch Kupchak has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately. Furthermore, Jim Buss will no longer hold his role as Lakers Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations.
