The new Dave & Buster's in New Orleans' Central Business District opens to the public Monday (May 22) on top of a new parking garage at the corner of Poydras Street and Loyola Avenue. This is first Dave & Buster's to open in Louisiana.

We got a sneak peek Thursday at the new 40,000-square-foot arcade restaurant, including a walk through the more than 165 games on the arcade floor and items from the food and drink menu. See the photos above and video below for a closer look at the location.

General Manager Jackie Wash said the location is positioned to serve a range of customers, including tourists walking over from the French Quarter, locals seeking an after-work happy hour spot, and sports fans going to and from the Mercedes-Benz Superdome and the Smoothie King Center. The arcade will be open until 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

"We don't want to just be a tourist attraction. We're here for the locals, too," Wash said. "We want to be integrated and help out the community any way we can."

Dave & Buster's has hired more than 300 people to staff the new location. Wash said the company is still accepting applications for a wide range of positions online. The restaurant plans to review applications weekly as operations get up and running.

What can you expect when you walk in? Be prepared for lots of screens. TV screens line the walls around the sports bar area. Screens turn the arcade floor into a glowing haze. There is also plenty of noise, from the chirping games to the layer of thumping pop tunes.

Both front- and back-of-house positions are available.

The food ranges from bar fare to more outlandish creations, such as the "Caveman Combo," a set of four skewered mini hamburgers arranged in a metal bucket with ribs and fries. The drinks aren't short on show, either -- one woman at Thursday's reveal carried around a cocktail with a mini Prosecco bottle perched upside down on top, a creation known as the "Proseccorita."

The space also has special event rooms that can hold parties between 15 and 125 people.

Dave & Buster's, located on the sixth floor of 1200 Poydras St., will offer both regular and late-night happy hour specials throughout the week as well as half-price games on Wednesdays. It is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Dave & Buster's has 97 locations nationwide, including New Orleans.
