Southern Decadence

Friday, Aug. 31 – Sunday, Sept. 2

Southern Decadence dominates the French Quarter scene with festivities celebrating the LGBT community extending throughout the Labor Day weekend. Festivities kicked off on Thursday and will continue through Monday. Highlights include the Bourbon Street Extravaganza — a free outdoor concert at the intersection of Bourbon and St. Ann on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. — and the Southern Decadence Walking Parade on Sunday at 2 p.m. See the complete schedule of events via the website. FOX 8 hosts 'First Responders Night' with Baby Cakes

Saturday, Sept. 1

Come celebrate first responders like police, EMT and firefighters with the Baby Cakes at the “Shrine on Airline” on Saturday at 6 p.m. Join FOX 8’s Juan Kincaid for First Responders Night to pay respect to those everyday heroes making extraordinary sacrifices. Throughout New Orleans vs. Omaha game, we will be playing exclusive sneak peaks of “9-1-1,” one of primetime’s top dramas returning to FOX this fall.

Inaugural New Orleans Pride Run & Walk

Saturday, Sept. 1

The New Orleans Track Club kicks off the inaugural New Orleans Pride Run & Walk on Saturday, just in time for Southern Decadence weekend. At 10 a.m., the 5K event will start and end along the Mississippi river at Crescent Park. Members of the LGBTQ+ community along with friends and allies are encouraged to show their pride. Registration is $35 for adults and $25 for youth ages 20 and under. Post-race refreshments will include food and adult beverages.

Trapical Pool Party Vol. V Labor Day Edition

Saturday, Sept. 1

Organizers behind the NOLA Caribbean Festival throw a pool party at the Drifter Hotel starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The event features local DJs like DJ Raj Smoove spinning the best across different music genres including trap, reggae, salsa and bounce. Guests can take advantage of authentic Caribbean food and a full bar on-site. General admission tickets are $20.

Brennan's first annual Southern Decadence Drag Brunch

Saturday, Sept. 1

Brennan’s will host its inaugural Southern Decadence Drag Bunch on Saturday. The brunch features Coca Mesa, Gia Giavanni and DJ Tim Pflueger, among others. Guests can enjoy a three-course menu, and each table will receive a bottle of sparkling wine with fresh juices. Inaugural Pros. vs Media Charity Flag Football Game

Saturday, Sept. 1

Former New Orleans Saints players Marlon Favorite and Skyler Green are among the players hitting the field in the inaugural Pros vs. Media Flag Football game at 8 a.m. on Saturday. The game at Behrman Stadium in Algiers brings together more than 30 professional athletes, media professionals and social influencers to benefit the American Heart Association. Families are invited to kick-off the Labor Day weekend with a fun-filled morning of activities, giveaways and celebrity meet and greets. Food vendors will be on site.

Freedom Fest at the Lake

Sunday, Sept. 2

Country music fans can see a star-studded lineup at the second annual Freedom Fest at the Lake. The concert will feature performances by Kellie Pickler, Diamond Rio, Danielle Bradbery and “Yodel Boy” Mason Ramsey. Festivities start at 4 p.m. on the lake at the foot of Williams Boulevard and end with fireworks at 9:30 p.m. Read more about this year’s lineup here. Admission is free.
