Cyntoia Brown Plans to Publish Book To Help Abused Women

Cyntoia Brown's newfound freedom is leading to new opportunities.

Now that the 31-year-old was released from Tennessee Prison for Women, she's got a lot of responsibility she's eager to take on. First on her to-do list was to share thanks and appreciation for family and friends, as well as supporters who've stood by her. Her attorney, Charles Bone, shared a statement from Cyntoia, who's embracing the hard work everyone put in to get her home.

“While first giving honor to God who made all of this possible, I would also like to thank my many supporters who have spoken on my behalf and prayed for me.
I’m blessed to have a very supportive family and friends to support me in the days to come.
I thank Governor and First Lady Haslam for their vote of confidence in me and with the Lord’s help I will make them as well as the rest of my supporters proud."

Bone has high hopes for his client's progression, especially since earning two degrees from Lipscomb University while she was incarcerated. Cyntoia takes pride in aspiring to use her experience "to help other women and girls suffering abuse and exploitation." One way she plans on doing that is by publishing a book in October.

Charles exclusively told The Tennessean:

"I think the message she can deliver to the world is a message of what education can do, what redemption can do and just what perseverance can do."
