New Orleans city officials are mindful that we're still in the middle of hurricane season.

During a City Council meeting on Tuesday, they laid out updated plans for hurricane preparedness.

The city estimates up to 40,000 residents may need transportation assistance during a storm.

The Smoothie King Center is still the city's main evacuation hub. Residents would be transported there via RTA buses before being evacuated by charter bus, Amtrak, trains, or airlift.
