The Human Rights Foundation is coming down hard on Kanye West for his reported performance in Kazakhstan over the weekend.

The rapper was reportedly paid $3 million to perform at the wedding of the grandson of the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev, a reputed dictator.

In a statement, HRF's President Thor Halvorssen says Kanye "would find himself in prison" if he lived in Kazakhstan because Nazarbayev's regime "crushes freedom of speech and association."  Halvorssen also called the country a "human rights wasteland."

Meantime, former World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov - who now serves as chairman of the Human Rights Foundation - says Kanye "entertained a brutal killer and his entourage."

Kasparov also drew a comparison between Kanye's performance and the recent controversy surrounding a similar performance by Jennifer Lopez in Turkmenistan.
